Clear and Cold

It is the coldest night of the year so far here in Fort Simpson NWT. It is November 22, 2010 and it is -33C. This is serious cold. You do not go outside unless you are
properly dressed. The house is cracklin from time to time, just to remind you how cold it really is. To all our family and friends back home in the Perth Ontario and
Ottawa Valley area, please keep warm, and take care of one another, we miss you all.

Fall In The Fort

Hello Family & Friends

It is now Fall in Fort Simpson, and as usual, we look forward to the season changing.
Brenda now has her Canada Goose Parka, so she is ready for colder days ahead. I was
out for a Sunday walk around the village, and I soon had company from Suzie and PJ,
the neighborhood Huskies, they are awesome. The leaves are falling quick, and winter is just around the corner, there is snow all around us in other communities, just a matter of time. We want to wish all our families, friends and loved ones a very Happy
Thanksgiving long weekend, we miss you all, and please stay tuned to our Blog.

Yellowknife NWT Summer Tour

Hello Everyone

It is now mid August, and I had a mid July tour from Fort Simpson to Yellowknife NWT
and I will tell you more about that down the road. My highlight was stopping into
Buffalo Airways home of Ice Pilots NWT and getting free access to take pictures of
the entire facility, it was awesome as they were there filming for Season 2 and 3.

We would like to take this day and wish our Mothers all the best, your continued love
and support is what keeps us going. I want to apologise for the date I keep saying on the mothers day video, it is not the 8th, in fact the video was shot on Sunday May

Reflection

Another couple of weeks have brought a few new adventures around the village. The month of May started with 5cm of snow, we hear it will get warmer eventually, maybe in July!!! The Mackenzie and Liard Rivers are slowly clearing of large ice chunks,
and the Ferry hopes to be running in a couple more weeks. We attended our first
Feast and Drum Dance at the community hall, it was awesome, those drummers can really
keep a mean Four-Four beat, what a great spiritual experience. Finally just a few walks around the village taking in all it's historic and natural beauty, Fort Simpson
is truly one of Canada's hidden treasures. To all our families, friends and loved ones back home, we truly are missing everyone, and we hope you will keep in touch,
and please pass on our little blog diary, please take care of one another!!!

The Mackenzie and Liard Rivers

Hello Guys

We are very lucky, it is a two minute walk to the amazing Mackenzie River which works it's way North to Inuvik, former home of The Ice Road Truckers show. Here in
Fort Simpson, it is joined by the Liard River which also has a winter ice road crossing and ferry in the summer time, very cool. Were told the ice break up is something to see in a few weeks, so stay tuned.

Our Home Away From Home

Hello All

Here is a look at our Home that is provided to us, it is very nice and reminds us alot of our own home. We are living very well and the community of Fort Simpson and
all it's fine folk have made us very welcome, we really appreciate that.

I'm Leaving On A Jet Plane

Hello Everyone

Our flights up to Fort Simpson were awesome. We left Ottawa on West Jet, did a quick 30 minute touch down in Winnipeg, then it was over to Edmonton where we spent the night. The next morning we left Edmonton on First Air (first class) and the breakfest
was great. We landed in Yellowknife late morning, and had about a 90 minute stayover.
We then flew out of Yellowknife shortly after the noon hour (first class) again and had a very fine lunch on board. We then landed in Fort Simpson about 1:45pm and were greeted by our new Managers. It was a great journey from Ottawa to Fort Simpson for
Brenda and I, we loved flying and look forward to the next trips. Life now begins for us in Fort Simpson NWT.
